Biochar and Pollution
With more and more gardens in urban environments plants are vunerable to exposure to pollution. Pollutants in a garden can originate from a multitude of sources, most of which are uncontrollable by the owner.
Pollution from urban and industrial activities is carried by weather systems for hundreds of miles. Pollution can also be carried through the water table and can enter any ecosystem as moisture moves through waterways and percolates through the earth through no fault of the gardener. In attempts to be environmentally friendly many gardeners use rainwater collection systems.
Takesumi bamboo biochar is extremely porous with a sponge-like surface area. In effect this means that the material acts as a filter. Bamboo biochar has the added benefit of bioremediation, a built-in team of microbes working to decompose toxic substances like chlorine. These harmless microbes can flourish in Takesumi bamboo biochar.
